Pauline Hunter

I was asked to become the next Clan Chief in 1992 and inherited the Chiefship in 1994, at the time I was a District Nurse.

On becoming Clan Chief I inherited several Clan Hunter Associations, in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK and the USA. Since then our membership has come to include new Clan Associations in South and Central America and Mexico. Connecting Hunters from around the globe is very important to me in creating a worldwide network to benegfit our Clan and encourage international co-operation.

The responsibility for the maintenance and preservation of Hunterston Castle falls under my remit and my current aim is to create a Charity for the preservation of Hunterston Castle a Grade one building for all Hunters now and in the future. Hunterston Castle is in remarkable condition being the best preserved Pele Tower in Scotland still owned by the family that built it.

My other aim is to promote Clan Hunter and our tartan to as wide an audience as possible, to this end I have taken every opportunity to attend any of the national events held in Scotland, such as Homecoming Scotland, Bannockburn, Flodden and most recently, the opening ceremony of the Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo as well as visiting our membership in their own countries.

My team and I have just completed the creation of a new logo and redesign of our website.

Instead of our Gathering which was to be held this year, I scheduled the launch of the Clan Hunter website and promoted our current project, our Hunter genealogy database.

I see the current pandemic as an opportunity to re-evaluate our vision to Connect Clanfolk using modern technology and now have regular video conference calls with Clan Hunter folk around the world.
