Ian Dowson

Principal of William Garrity Associates Ltd a consultancy specialising in the strategic implications of FinTech (Financial Services Innovation) GovTech (Governmental Digital Innovation) and Corporate Development. He has been producing original research on Fintech innovation systems since 2011 and researching the forces driving Startup ecosystems since 2008. Ian mentors a number of Startups having been part of a formal programme at StartupBootcamp FinTech, GovTech work can be found @govtechresearch, a strong advocate of service design thinking to create systems that are user centric and outcomes based.

Previously managing Corporate Development at B Elliott Plc, a high to mid tech conglomerate, based in the UK and USA, this had a focus on alternative energy and electric power conversion systems for vehicles.

In his earlier career was Financial Director of an 800-unit retail chain part of Imperial Group Plc, Chief Accountant of Ladbroke Racing Ltd in the UK and Belgium, starting his career with Glaxo Plc. He speaks and writes regularly on Digital Innovation and FinTech, example “Initial Coin Offerings the search for the Final Function” and has presented at Social Media Week, FinTech Week, FinTech for Good, Digital Shoreditch festival and Blockchain Week.

Ian is qualified FCCA and MBA.
